Is there a way to select in column mode like ultraedit?

Answer:
Yes, go to Tools / Edit Toolbars, and in the "Commands" sections under Edit category you will find the command "Block style Selection". Move this to the edit menu, and press/depress to activate.

Regarding "Column Mode":

(1) Microsoft Word uses:
- hold ...
... drag to select a block or column.

(2) Edit Plus
.... also uses this very same method.

(3) In fact ... Optiperl v5.3 also uses this method :)

Seems like a standard !
